"Today
after spending the whole week convincing myself and everyone
in my office that "I'm not going to Bristol, it's too far…"
at approximately 3pm on Friday afternoon, I made an executive
decision. Calling Jane and stating "we are going to Bristol,
no excuses" the response from her was "oh really, fantastic,
you're an angel", which, clearly, I'm not. Anyway, the tickets
were duly purchased from the credit card line (I have such a
HUGE credit card bill, Jane joked to me that I should just do
a direct debit to the Dum Dums on a weekly basis and cut out
the middle man!!!) I then got on the phone, and using my powers
of persuasion managed to sort out two photo passes for me and
Jane. Things were looking good.
The
trip to Bristol took a long time. A very long time. Leaving
Milton Keynes at 3pm I picked Jane up from Cambridge at 4pm,
and we got on the M11, then the M25, then the M4 to Bristol.
We arrived at The Fleece & Firkin at 8pm, just as they were
opening the doors, and the queue was right around the building.
When they opened the doors it was apparent they were being very
strict on ages and only letting people in who had photo I.D.,
however because Jane and I look very old (!) we were let in
and I picked up the photo passes from the door, upon arrival
inside the venue I discovered to my horror that there wasn't
a pit!!! Luckily no-one was down the front so Jane and I positioned
ourselves next to the stage in preparation for taking copious
amounts of photographs...
