"ToI
had arranged to leave work at 3pm on Tuesday 12th December,
in order to in Cambridge by 4pm, to pick up Jane and be in Northampton
by 5pm. This arrangement, however, backfired on me horribly
upon hitting not one, but three huge traffic jams getting out
of Cambridge, causing a very grumpy me to remark to Jane "they
should drop a bloody bomb on this place"!!! Eventually we fought
our way down the A14 and I decided to risk the speeding tickets
and hammered down the A45 to Northampton at an average of 85
mph!!!
We
arrived at the Roadmender at around 6.15pm, and were relieved
to discover that the queue only consisted of about 6 people,
so after parking the car, we joined the queue and realised just
how much it was raining. We got absolutely drenched and it seemed
an awful long time until 7.30pm when the doors were opened.
We
went straight through into the main hall and positioned ourselves
on the barrier, and soon after we were treated to Bowfinger,
the first support band (not to be confused with Lowfinger, who
were the second support band!). We have seen Bowfinger before
and they have consistently good, punchy songs and a trombone
player which earned them points are far as we were concerned,
however, they do look like the Proclaimers!
